“When I was pregnant​ with my son, I was​ living paycheck-to-paycheck but I loved my job at Bora Architects. I ​considered the option of going back to work one week after ​my baby was born. I also considered the idea of quitting my job and applying for state/government assistance. My final choice was to stop paying bills for a long as I could and deal with the financial chaos later on. ​I shared my financial anxieties with my boss, who then implemented ​a paid family leave for all employees. It truly felt like a rescue had arrived. ​ ​This was just in time for me — but what about all the people who don’t work for an employer like Bora?”
